I've been using BPFTP since 7-19-05 with no real issues but I am encountering a rather difficult issue now. I have BPFTP server (v2.3.1 b26) running on a 2.6GHz Celeron with 512MB of RAM running Windows XP Pro SP3 at home. My server has been running great with no software changes except SP3 (about 2 weeks ago) & standard Windows Updates for about 9 months except a new installation of antivirus software about 5 days ago.
I recently installed AVG Antivirus Free Edition 8.0 on my server which in turn decided to detect the BPFTP Server service as a PUP on the system with the initial system scan and quarantined it. I restored it from the "virus vault" and it seems to function just fine when the server is started and open. However, if you try to exit BPFTP Server it crashes very hard and immediately freezes the entire system leaving no option except a hard power off/on. There is no time to get any kind of error and looking in the Event Viewer there is no entry for any sort of application crash. Since the issue started I have tried the following with no change yet.
I've backed up all my core files so I haven't lost anything and when BPFTP Server is up and running it works fine, but if you try to exit... well thats the problem. Any ideas on where to look to try and solve this? And what is up with this "new" version of 2.3.1 build 27? I see no differences except a different installer, can't seem to find a change og anywhere and the application still lists it as version 2.3.1 build 26? ![]() |
